COORDINANT CONJUNCTIONS are used to BIND PROPOSITIONS that are independent and have the same importance. But what does this mean? It means that individual sentences have no connection to each other. For example I can say: 'La notte mi piace e anche il giorno non è male'. In this case 'la notte mi piace', and 'il giorno non è male' have no relation.
The conjunction JOINS TWO SENTENCES, and therefore two structures that have two verbs. In the picture below, there are two sentences and the conjunction 'MA', which is called an AVVERSATIVE CONJUNCTION. This is because 'MA' relates two concepts that are at odds with each other. In fact, it is not normal to work every day, and have no money!
